Whether you're a Perth/Boorloo local, new to town or just visiting (hi), it's only natural to seek out the absolute best dining experiences in Perth. Thankfully, that's kinda our specialty.
With strong ties to the water, Perth is best known for its impeccable local seafood, from Western Rock Lobster, Fremantle Octopus and Akoya Oysters to freshwater delights like Marron and Scampi. We're also pretty blessed to have one of Australia's highest-producing truffle regions a few hours away and one of the country's finest wine regions on our doorstep too, which only adds to the premium culinary offering on offer across Perth menus.
At Urban List, we're constantly asked where the best spots to eat in Perth are, so it's a topic we've put a lot of thought into. Amazing food and a great vibe are key, but how it comes, we're not too fussed about. A cheap and cheerful dumpling house, a wine bar by the beach with fancy snacks, a sustainable fine diner repping the finest Western Australian produce—if we're obsessing over a spot (new or old), you'll find it listed here amongst Perth's best restaurants.
Never miss a new opening or upcoming event in Perth again—get us in your inbox here.

Cassia
3/45 Henderson St, Fremantle WA 6160
The team behind Cosy Del’s and Laika have opened the doors to Cassia—a love letter to the classic Australian barbeque in the heart of Freo. Focussed around the venue's open kitchen, multi award-winning Head Chef Emily Jones has created a fire-fuelled menu where share-style smoked meats, fresh seafood and seasonal veg are front and centre. Think: charcoal-infused beef tartare with shallots, capers and chilli; and the wood-fired O’Connor beef rib drizzled in beef jus.
On the drinks front, there’s a focus on WA wines (including drops from the nearby Urban Winery’s H&C Wine), plus locally-brewed craft beers and a generous range of botanical cocktails, intentionally crafted to bring out the bold, smokey flavours of the wood-fired dishes.
Gibney
40 Marine Parade, Cottesloe WA 6011
Image credit: Gibney | Tristan McKenzie
With knockout views and an elevated offering unlike anything in Perth, George Kailis' swanky new South Cott brasserie has cemented its status as Perth's most premium dining destinations.
White jacketed wait staff, marble galore and tableside martinis; the finer touches do not go unnoticed at Gibney. But beneath it all, you'll find a stellar food and drink program reminiscent of the world's finest European and NYC brasseries, all headed up by one of Perth's most talented young chefs. It's a splurge, but the experience is unmatched.
INSIDER INTEL
- The bar area is walk-in only, so it's the perfect way to drop in without a reservation and enjoy a cocktail and a fancy snack or two with Perth's best view

- A perfect spot to take out-of-towners
Bertie
77 Old Perth Rd, Bassendean WA 6054
Secret’s out—we’re a tiny bit in love with Bassendean's sleek little wine bar slash restaurant, Bertie. With an ex-Vue De Monde chef at the helm, this gem is all about fancying up British-inspired classics like the humble scotch egg, pork terrine and steak and chips.
Our fave thing right now though, might just be their ice cream sandwich spin on the humble sticky date pud. They're also doing Sunday roasts to rival Britain's best, with a rotating main meat (think: succulent chicken, crispy pork and hearty lamb) served up alongside a generous plate full of roast veg, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. The Thursday steak special also slaps.
And because Bertie straddles the line between bar and restaurant, the wine list is endless, the cocktails are punchy and bonus points that they smash out some great non-alc tipples for the designated drivers too, so you'll be just as pleased if you pull in for a coupla rounds.

The Perth population collectively died and went to heaven when David Thompson brought us Long Chim. Set in the converted basement of the State Buildings, you’ll enjoy the vibrant umbrella-topped terrace as much as the spicy chicken larb.
You'll also want to make room for the crunchy prawns, charred noodles and banana roti, preferably washed down with something from their exceptional cocktail menu. And if you ever see ma hor (a tasty pineapple and minced meat morsel) on the menu, order a round immediately—it's heaven in one bite.

With perfectly charred crusts and quality toppings, their woodfired pizzas are all fantastic, but if you wanna try something new, we're pretty obsessed with the Rottnest swordfish schnitzel. La Cholita
279 William St, Northbridge WA 6003
Image credit: La Cholita | Instagram
La Cholita has taken over ten years of margarita shaking and taco slinging in its stride. The cool Northbridge cantina is every bit as vibing as the day it opened (and the tequila just as potent). We're big fans of the speedy service, that'll see a bowl of fried tortillas and guac land at your table faster than it takes you to pick between the five different margs on the drinks list. From there we'd suggest you start small rather than ordering all at once—it comes out quick and your eyes are often bigger than your stomach. Get a couple of tacos (the baja fish is iconic), a quesadilla and some tostadas, then just add more as you go.
INSIDER INTEL
- Order a serve of chips and guac as soon as you sit down
- Most of the menu is gluten-free
- Book ahead; it's always busy
